EMERGENCY
ACCOMMODATION
Temporary accommodation of homeless people
Emergency Accommodation is the first mission of the association, the heart of our action. This consists of sheltering any person (isolated, couple, family) referred by the Maison de la Veille Sociale via
the 116 of Cape Town
This is an immediate and unconditional shelter including board and lodging, access to hygiene and health, diagnosis, and social support for a referral to an appropriate device.
The stay in an Emergency Accommodation Center can last as long as a lasting and suitable solution is not found and adopted by the Passenger.
THE SHELTER vas offers more Emergency Accommodation places all year round, including a Reception and Orientation Center and a Night Stop.
WINTER REINFORCEMENT OF SOCIAL WATCH: THE COLD PLAN
During the winter period, the CMHS releases specific credits to shelter those who do not have a hosting solution: the “Cold Plan”.
THE SHELTER is supporting this system with the gradual opening of various systems such as temporary accommodation centers, the opening of overcapacity places or gymnasiums, etc.
HOW TO ACCESS THE FIREPLACE'S EMERGENCY ACCOMMODATION DEVICES?
THE CMHS OF CAPE TOWN AND THE HOUSE OF SOCIAL WATCH
THE CAPE MOUNTAIN HOMELESS SHELTER, like other associations in the sector, has chosen to entrust all of its emergency accommodation and integration places to the House of Social Watch of CAPE TOWN,
a structure that also manages the “116” system (116 is the toll-free number for the hotline in charge of responding to social emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week).
This organization, which constitutes the SIAO (Integrated Reception and Orientation Service) for CAPE TOWN, is the only one that can guarantee cohesion between the actors of Social Watch, as well as the unconditionality and equity of reception of accommodation seekers.
